Christopher and Mission trip to Haiti

Dear Son, You just returned from Haiti on your mission trip taking the mission balls and helping daddy with medical missions. I am very proud of you. I think you did a great job presenting and I also think that you matured in your faith.

You said you made good friends with Michael and Carlos who are young haitian pastors that Pastor Kyle and other pastors come and train at the Bible school.

Daddy said the highlight of his trip was going door to door praying for people and bringing Mickey along who asked the women to start a weekly Bible study.

You helped daddy serve 50 people one day and gave out 46 mission balls.

You are excited and happy. I hope your faith has been encouraged and I will pray that God will make you a great pastor or missionary or whatever He has for you for your glory.

I love you. Thank you for being a good example and I hope you know how much he loves you.

Kids Growing in Their faith

I am a very proud mother tonight. I just finished practice shooting a video with Christopher for a mission trip he will be taking with his daddy at the end of Jan. He is very excited and he did a great with the initial takes of the video. I love his heart. God please help him grow to know you more and more each day.

Alexis last night accepted Jesus as her Savior. She accepted Jesus in her heart and she is so excited she will go to heaven when she is old. She is a beautiful girl. Yesterday I felt convicted almost to stay home and just have FAMILY CHURCH. I know it was the Holy SPIRIT leading us to do this....We played a game and them each one of us did a lesson on the symbols of Christianity. Christopher had the fish and explained that in the early church people would draw a half fish and the other believer would finish the fish so you knew you could share about your faith openly. I didnt know this. We made GIFTS FOR JESUS as well. Alexis' symbol was the DOVE and Christopher taught her that it represented the HOLY SPIRIT.

Later this is what we talked about.....I told her that the HOLY SPIRIT is JESUS that lives in your heart.
She said she wanted JESUS in her heart and grabbed Christopher and I hand so quickly and said ...lets pray....Christopher mainly and I helped her say the sinners prayer. It was beautiful.

I love my children. I know that they are not perfect and that their lives will not be perfect but I believe that if they have faith in Jesus they will live a long and beautiful life. They will have faith when life gets hard because they will have hope in something bigger than themselves.

Lord help me and Jason to be better parents than we are to daily lead them to a relationship closer relationship with you than the previous day.

Thank you Lord for this life with my children. Protect us LORD. Please.

Amen. Krissy

Christopher accepted Christ 9/9/9/ at 9 Alexis 12/20/15 at 9:10. Their second birthdays.

Paris- a test of faith, a challenge to LOVE like Jesus.

We are open with Christopher about many of the events of the world. I feel more inclined to share dialogue with him now that he is in school and he will hear things from many peers and adults. I do not know their opinions, Christian or non believer, so I want to be the first to impart my opinion- more than my opinion- direct application from the BIBLE.

I tread lightly on the subject in some ways. I have many Muslim friends. I have had the privilege to deliver babies of Muslim faith.  I think many people are speaking ignorantly, not knowing the people. Yes there is a great difference between the beliefs and ideals and practices of a Muslim compared to a Christian. Eternally, we are very far a part.

But in the midst of tragedy on a country and on a people, what is my response. I have been thinking about this a lot the past few days. How will I respond when I have four little eyes looking  up at me. Mommy has always told them that FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD and WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS, HE DIED FOR US.

Yet I hear from my "friends and brothers and sisters" and ideology that is ruled by fear and hatred towards others. Yes a group of them did an awful thing. But are we called to hate a woman and a baby when they seek refuge in our homeland. And whose homeland is this anyways....I know the history of America to be White man came and killed all the BROWN people to have their land and them made the BLACK man to be slaves to profit on their new land. Thats is another lesson. History repeats itself.

Before I get too sidetracked let me make my point.

When my son asks me about PARIS what will I say? When he asks me about how I view Muslims what will I say?

More than being an American I am first a Christian, a follower of the ideology and practices of Jesus Christ.

Our faith is being challenged. Do we really believe and live out our faith when it is hard pressed on every side.

I feel that we are speaking hate and ignorance- to say NO refugees.

I do not want my son to hate, or fear, or cast out any person because of their religion, beliefs, ect. That is not being a disciple of Christ.

We are in for some hard days a head. The Lord is watching us all. The devil is prowling.

We know the end of this story. God will conquer all. It will get ugly. People will hate us. People will kill us. Violence will happen. There will be a holy war evil against good.

In the midst will you lose your love- WELOVE because he first loved us. We are all sinners deserving of  death.

Lets not be consumed by fear and hate.

I love the way this husband responded.

I will tell my son that we will love them NO MATTER WHAT.

In the face of our enemies, we will still have faith and love.

Wisdom for my 11 year old amazing son!

Dearest Christopher,

Today you are headed to camp at Hidden Acres. You are going to be doing the basketball camp. I have to tell you how proud I am of you. You dont know it but you going to basketball camp is very exciting to your mother. I fell in love with basketball when I was about 11 years old. A lot of life changes were happening to me at this time. I moved from my foster home to my new home with prospective forever family. I found out I had two brothers. One was very nice. The other a little bit hateful to me. He didnt necessarily like me, want me. I always reminded myself...no one probably asked him if he wanted a sister. I sympathized with him...cuz honestly no one asked me either. I had lost my family, and I guess I assumed I would just stay in foster care the rest of my childhood. My foster mom took me to the middle school to check it out. I would be entering 7th grade. Middle school was different. I would be switching classes. Sixth grade in Ferndale was still elementary. I found out in middle school I could play sports. I had only had a little bit of exposure to sports but I really like running and would play basketball at the local  boys and girls club. I was actually good but I noticed mostly boys played that sport. It was fun though. Anyways, when I  moved across country with my new family, my brother Lawren was nice to me....we went biking and sometimes played a little basketball. Our new house was right across the street from a school so I would play bball everyday. It was therapy to me. I met lots of kids doing this and it was really fun. I was lucky to be able to play basketball now in middle school at my new school. It was fun. I wasnt as good as the other kids, they had been playing since fourth grade or earlier. I learned that parents could actually enroll their kids in sports at the YMCA or  local city teams. (This was an reminder to me that I was "strange" and didnt grow up like other kids.) Why am I telling you all this randomness. Christopher over the next few years you might go through some awkward years....as a preteen and teenager, I dont know why but kids start to compare themselves to others.  I want to encourage you to try everything...as your mother I want to give you opportunities I didnt have...i hope you find the things that make you happy and you will improve your skills in sports and robotics and anything you want. Please tell me what you want to pursue and I will help you find those opportunities.

Wisdom is understanding future consequences of our present decisions.

So I want to share with you some wisdom.

1. You identity is best found in Christ. As a pre teen and teenager, you can form your identity by comparing yourself to others looks talents and smarts....or you can develop all the things that you are naturally talented in and MOST importantly you can grow your relationship with Christ and find your identity in HIM.
A lot of us learn this late and waste a lot of time in our thoughts thinking we are not good enough, smart enough, cute enough, fast enough, talented enough ect.  Christopher you are so talented and amazing. Please dont compare yourself to anyone.

2. The best way to make friends is to be a friend. I am praying for you this week as you are at camp. I hope you learn alot about God and basketball. Mostly I hope you make friends.

NOW here is something a little deeper. This is wisdom and advice that may not apply now but maybe later.

What does God teach about how to handle drinking and others who drink. When you are a teenager you will be faced with this temptation/ situation. Its my gut instinct as a parent to just keep you away from all these bade things but also if you are never given the opportunity....how will you ever make choices and develop convictions and develop your faith.

So let me give you some thoughts, then pray about it and ask God to give you guidance in this area for your self and how you will handle this.

Ephesians 5:18 Do not get drunk which leads to debauchery.

When you get drunk you will allow yourself to do things that are not wise.  It is important to protect your heart and mind. If you are drunk you will not have control of either. You might make a choice you will regret.

Can you decide now what you will do if you are in a situation of temptation to drink.

Draw the line before you are in a hard situation. Because if you do not draw the line early...you will adjust the line to fit your debauchery....debauchery is any sensual pleasure....a sensual pleasure is something that makes you feel good in a moment but is hurtful to your future self.

The rest of Ephesians 5:18 - states: Instead by filled with the SPIRIT.

Let Jesus fill you up. Not beer. Make this commitment to God not just yourself.

I pray you continue to grow Christopher. I ask god to help me train you in gods ways. I pray you will love Him and seek Him. Protect you from bad mistakes....you will make mistakes in life...but I pray you will learn from them and you will be stronger in Him because of it.

I love you will all my heart. You are an amazing brother and son.

Always and Forever Mommy

Houston, Homeschool, Birth Center, and New Churches...

Well our family made another big move. We moved to Houston so that I could work at the West Houston Birth Center. I have loved this job ----we prayed about it and feel as though it will be a ministry. So far it is fun, amazing and wonderful.

We also wanted to focus on our children...so we decided that we would be a one income family, begin homeschooling the kids and putting a daily focus on the LORD---spending time with the Lord more and with each other.

We are three weeks into it and Christopher is loving it. Both the kids---whenever we go out...just want to come home..hehe!!They love being at home. Our home is a small apartment.

When we first came to the apartment we were alittle concerned. The apartment is a little run down...but we actually have met great neighbors.

Today we went to a church called Westchase First Methodist Church. They had a wonderful service and afterwards they had a great EGGSTRAVAGANZA.
We were happy to see that Christopher met a few friends......He was playing on the bouncy house with them. It was good to see him connect with some kids.

Then we went on a walk this afternoon and RAN into the same kids. So now Christopher has friends in the apartment complex to hang out with and he is even considering joining the churches basketball team.

I do not think that any of this is a coincidence. We will be praying for this connections. Christopher has such a special mark on his life and I hope that through friendships and fun and sports he can bring others to the Lord.

I will be praying about doing some kind of APARTMENT OUTREACH/ PARTY for the kids.....LORD PLEASE SEND US IDEAS!!!!

I think our mission field will be our apartment complex and that is pretty EXCITING! God is Good.

We are enjoying homeschool. Here is a few of the books we are studying:
1. http://www.christianbook.com/animals-sixth-exploring-creation-with-zoology/jeannie-fulbright/9781932012859/pd/337013?dv=c&en=google-pla&event=SHOP&kw=homeschool-20-40&p=1179710&gclid=CjwKEAjwuoOpBRCSy6yQm66J1g8SJABrXW48cpftdblsRmPjLy5g48SguPd2DC0j9AhcZedvrce6NhoC46_w_wcB

Churches in the area:
Some we have tried:

2. http://www.lakewoodchurch.com/Pages/Home.aspx- Love this church!!!!It has everything...even being large it still is home and family like. Love the ministries and missions. Want to be involved for sure in small groups, missions, marriage groups, and even workout groups, and kids ministry
3. http://parkwayfellowship.com/; Great childrens ministry, very contemporary and laid back. About 30 minutes away towards Katy TX.
4. West Chase First United Methodist- love that it is next door. http://www.fmhouston.com/
Excited to be a part of the church- great missions, great childrens church. Christopher said he learned alot!

Some we want to try:
http://www.cpointchurch.org/get-connected/service-opportunities/

The woodlands?
http://www.wc.org/

We will continue to visit every Saturday and Sunday we can to find our new church family!!!!We want to be rooted in the WORD, encouraged to serve with fellow brothers in the LORD, and find friends, and also have weekends focused on HIM while having fun and making memories as a family.

Some takeaways today:

Today we watched GODS NOT DEAD. There is a part in the movie where the boy is talking to his girlfriend about feeling the God is wanting Him to defend Him to his Philosophy teacher. (that is basically what the movie is about---a boy in college defending his faith to a professor that doesnt believe in God ans is mad at God for taking his mom)
The girlfriend tell the boy TO LEAVE IT ALONE.....this is about US......He tells her that he wants to do this...and she basically gives him an ultimatum and a guilt trip.....CHRISTOPHER says..wow thats a temptation!!!
Jason and I both looked at each other.
He gets how scheming the devil is.....the girlfriend was playing devils advocate.....the boy loved the girl and they had a six year relationship....shes a pretty girl...and they probably were heading towards marriage...but this boy wants to STAND up for GOD....and nothing is going to stand in his way.
I love to see that Christopher recognized this.....he also asked us...Mom, Dad, would you allow me to argue my beliefs.....we SAID of course...he said GOOD!!!!!!
